The all new Volvo EC500

The EC500 is designed with operator comfort and safety as priorities, featuring a new cab design and improved interface.

• Safety: Aligned with Volvo’s zero-accident vision, the excavator includes Volvo Smart View with object detection, offering a 360° view and real-time alerts for obstacles. New safety features include three-point access guard rails and a foldable handrail for transport.
• Efficiency: Faster cycle times and improved fuel efficiency enable quicker, cost-effective operations.

Next-Generation Excavator Unveiled

At CONEXPO, Volvo CE revealed the pre-production EC500, a 50-ton crawler excavator succeeding the EC480E. Built for demanding tasks like construction, quarrying, and landscaping, the EC500 pairs perfectly with Volvo A25G-A35G haulers and will be available in Europe, North America, and Korea.

Enhanced Operator Experience
The redesigned cab boasts a high-resolution Co-Pilot screen, keyless start, wireless smartphone charging, and customizable hydraulic settings. Safety is enhanced by Volvo Smart View, which identifies and classifies objects or humans, providing automatic alerts. Operator tools like Dig Assist and Lift Assist improve accuracy and efficiency, while Volvo Active Control automates grading for the first time in this size class.

Performance and Reliability
New electric joysticks provide better control over the hydraulic system, offering smoother operation, faster cycle times, and greater fuel efficiency. Extended service intervals (from 2,000 to 3,000 hours) reduce maintenance costs and increase uptime.

Production of the EC500 began in Q4 2023 at Volvo CE’s Changwon, Korea plant, with more models in this next-generation line to follow.
