Komatsu WA700-8: The 97 ton wheel loader

Komatsu has launched the WA700-8 wheeled loader in Europe after over a decade of development. This model boasts increased engine power and torque, a cooling system, and reduced hydraulic losses, enhancing cycle times and fuel efficiency.

For improved productivity and operator comfort during V-shape loading, it features a throttle lock and RPM set function. The WA700-8 is powered by a 578 kW Komatsu engine and meets EU Stage V emissions standards. It can use B20 biodiesel and is compatible with paraffinic fuels like Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

97,1 tons and 775 HP, a beast.

Safety features include emergency push buttons, certified anchorage points, and battery, starter, and hydraulic lockouts. The ergonomically designed cabin includes a trainer seat for side-by-side coaching, an advanced joystick steering system, and electronic pilot control levers.

Automation features like an automatic digging system, semi-automatic approach, and semi-auto dump systems simplify repetitive tasks, helping operators optimize load cycles and reduce fatigue. Integration with Smart Quarry Site offers real-time insights into machine movement, usage, and output.

Jo Monsieur, deputy general manager of product marketing at Komatsu Europe, expressed excitement about the WA700-8, highlighting its compatibility with the 60-tonne rigid dump truck. The WA700-8 will be showcased in a live demo at Bauma 2025, outside Hall C6.
