Komatsu WA700-8: The 97 ton wheel loader

Komatsu has launched the WA700-8 wheeled loader in Europe after over a decade of development. This model boasts increased engine power and torque, a cooling system, and reduced hydraulic losses, enhancing cycle times and fuel efficiency.
For improved productivity and operator comfort during V-shape loading, it features a throttle lock and RPM set function. The WA700-8 is powered by a 578 kW Komatsu engine and meets EU Stage V emissions standards. It can use B20 biodiesel and is compatible with paraffinic fuels like Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

Safety features include emergency push buttons, certified anchorage points, and battery, starter, and hydraulic lockouts. The ergonomically designed cabin includes a trainer seat for side-by-side coaching, an advanced joystick steering system, and electronic pilot control levers.
Automation features like an automatic digging system, semi-automatic approach, and semi-auto dump systems simplify repetitive tasks, helping operators optimize load cycles and reduce fatigue. Integration with Smart Quarry Site offers real-time insights into machine movement, usage, and output.
Jo Monsieur, deputy general manager of product marketing at Komatsu Europe, expressed excitement about the WA700-8, highlighting its compatibility with the 60-tonne rigid dump truck. The WA700-8 will be showcased in a live demo at Bauma 2025, outside Hall C6.
